My logic is perfect, and perfectly self-serving. To vastly simplify my poker strategy, I play only short sessions, making occasional allowances for when I feel great.
Since I switched over to Poker Manager Pro, the same week I reinvested in my seriousness about making a living from poker, I have put in about 859 hours over nine months of play, or approximately forty weeks. This overview leaves me lacking even the twenty five hours per week I claim to work: about twenty-two hours.
However this is just the overview, because it’s not weighted to the period time following my mental game research and the development of my invaluable Poker Prognosticator tool. Since March first, post mental game optimization, I have put in 365 hours, shaving some time off the average, to about twenty one per week.
However, my overall gross wage since instituting perfect mental game principles that month has risen forty percent. Unsustainable, as poker environmentalists like to scream. Perhaps, but the point is made that careful session control is positive expectation. Therefore, the problem in this blog post can be predicted if you are reading even half carefully.
I want to make a bunch more money, and am going to put in a bunch more hours… but I am not much of a workhorse. That I should probably go by Garfield, not Persuadeo, is the unfortunate truth. You can see I thrive at a low-stress, EZ-livin’ pace. I want to think all my lying in bed in preparation for the kill makes me Alain Delon in Le Samourai, but if you saw me, you’d probably compare me to the lethargic cat as well.
Now you see why my strategy is so self-serving: it may be correct, but it confirms and encourages my profound, amateur philosopher laziness.
Nevertheless, I am starting a new bankroll/life roll challenge this month. Six months, an extra 50k in the bank.
However, since my entire life is funded by poker, I’d be just lying to myself or you if I said I had a separate lol “bankroll”. So I’m not segregating the funds. Send me my Full Tilt hat, haters. Anyway, the point is, through savings on my current fat-cat-at-happy-hour budget, or above and beyond wins at the table, I want to see an extra five stacks of high society in the bank account at the end of the year, when I am relaxing under the Pacific coast sun and checking my BA app with California smugness.
It’s going to take discipline on both scores. I’ve got a lot to prove.
I’ll give you an update once a month. Any questions? I thought not.
Good luck me!
